Journal entry of an unknown legionnaire

Things are going from bad to worse. A Balaur scout ship attacked the outpost where the vanguard is gathered. I rushed to investigate, but there were no survivors. More and more outposts are falling to the Balaur. Waking or sleeping, I hear nothing but the groans of the wounded.

Even as I write these words, dark thoughts cloud my mind and weigh me down. My shoulder hasn't fully recovered yet, but I'd rather go out and fight than sit here.

Until the day Verteron is liberated, I refuse to lay down my sword.
